Funky Fashion ,

Humans have been interested in fashion since the dawn of time and fashion and clothing design is an industry that caters for all, from the exclusive and expensive haute couture, to the local market stall or high street chain store where one lives.

The above ladies were certainly not followers of fashion. Coco Chanel, designer for the rich and famous and Elizabeth Taylor, both ladies the epitome of style for both their clothing and jewelry, frequently appeared in the media of the day. Most women and I am talking about clothing mostly, have varying levels of interest in what they wear . Whilst it may not be a huge priority in their lives, they do allocate a certain amount of their hard earned cash to putting clothing on their backs. This can be from the local thrift store, high end fashion boutique or on line shopping in the comfort of their homes

Funky fashion is fun and and not just the prerogative of the young. Fashion trends come and go and to Dedicated Followers of Fashion as the Beatles song goes, it is almost a religion. Vogue Magazine is at the forefront of designer trends and of course there are many publications and on line forums that one can access to gain inspiration, whichever aspect of fashion one is interested in, be it clothing or accessorizes.

My favourite period for fashion is the 1920’s I love the flapper style dresses, funky hats and long strings of pearls giving clothing a light hearted and fun vibe for the wearer. Pre loved clothing shops can unearth some great finds, including some rare and no longer valued treasures when it comes to clothing. Even mens clothing was fun and flamboyant in the 1920’s and the” Bugsy Maloone” gangster look with its white hat and suit commanded the attention of the wearer The charlston demanded fun clothing and the flapper dress with its glitz and glitter added pizzaz to that exciting dance era

Dressing up is not just the prerogative of the very young. Some years ago our local Bed and Breakfast community hosted a 1920’s themed gala dinner We all dressed to the period, the men mainly chose the gangster look or illegal grog salon owner, the women decked out in flapper dresses with lots of gold and glitter , furs and long cigarette holders ,hats with feathers and sporting the obligatory bob hairstyle. It was a great night and everyone had a go at dressing up for the occasion
